Google Play began sharing chargeback costs with developers for orders placed after 3 August 2026. Every disputed transaction now costs you the revenue you'd already kept, plus a flat chargeback fee. This tool estimates what that adds up to per month and per year.
Shaded band = typical processor limits: Stripe flags at 0.5%, PayPal, Shopify and Braintree tend to act around 1%.
Visa's and Mastercard's own dispute-monitoring programmes use similar percentage thresholds, but also require a minimum monthly case count (typically 100+) that most small studios never reach.
When a player disputes a purchase, Google sends a notification and you have 24 hours to respond with evidence — whether the item was delivered and whether it was consumed. Only your first API call counts. Miss the window and Google has nothing to contest the chargeback with.
I'm building a tool that handles this automatically. Free and open source when it's done.
Email me when the tool shipsBuilt by a fraud analyst who noticed the change. One email when it ships, nothing else.
